Guild Crazy Quilt finished.

I stalked this fabric at Joann's until they had it for 40% off. I have enough left to play with for something else. The picture doesn't do it justice.. it is pretty stunning. It is in the Home Dec Section. I thought it would blend with the front but be a nice contrast and the embroidery matches the green in the binding and borders. I also stalled the dupioni silk that is embroidered with butterflies and them embellished with sequins and beads. It was at the Sewing Studio and on New Years day they always have a sale that is 40% off the total purchase. So potentially both the border and the backing on this quilt could have totaled $200. So you can see why crazies can be so pricey if you use new fabrics. The blocks are constructed of some new and some old fabrics. I made kits for the class and then they bought fabric to add. The use of the kits made all the blocks coordinate but they are also different. Some class participants used the pre-printed Benartex blocks I provided and a few did it the free wheeling way. If they were having trouble I told them to just think of a wonky log cabin and that did the trick. There were a couple who actually dabble in crazy or have done them before. They just came out to hang out and stitch and kvetch.

Beautiful Willa! Love the green and lavendar combo. I can see why you waited for that fabric to go on sale.

I think you did a wonderful job with border and backing. The quilt is lovely. I'm not sure how long I could wait for fabric to go on sale, I might have settled for something else.

Hi Willa

It turned out beautiful. I hope it brings in a good price for all your work. the colors are really great together and i do like the fabric for the backing. I will have to look at JoAnnes next time I am over there. I was just at the one at Tavares yesterday.

I won't be at your quilt show. we had our annual meeting and luncheon of the garden club yesterday then after that I went to JoAnnes and WalMart for some food and stuff. I was worn out when I got home so am not up to another day out right away.

Will talk about getting together with Carol and whoever wants to.

Hugs

Freda

OMG, Willa, this is one sensational quilt! Gorgeous fabrics!! I don’t think I’ve seen those at JoAnn’s here (or else I don’t have your eye!). Are you going to be at the CQ Adventure in April? Would love to see you again! Big hugs, Cathy

It's the dead of winter here right now, and just the sight of those colors brings a splotch of spring right into the room! The quilters did a fine job - and you did a great one by unifying all their work. Love it.

Willa, you do such beautiful work I have been following your work for years. I started crazy quilting in 1998 and have not turned back either. I have set and looked for hours on the computer at others work. I would love to go to Wichita, Ks to the CQ group, maybe someday, that is on my bucket list. LOL

I have made two quilts and working on one now. I have won several awards with them and other. Thanks for your inspiration
